There are a several types of custom reports that we can create.
One type of report are those that are written using the custom report writer that is integrated in Lytec. The most common request for these types of reports are superbills/encounter forms. These type of reports can be extremely detailed and require a great deal of tedious work. Most of the superbills that we create are done at the request of VARs that have the skills to create these forms themselves, but prefer to spend their time on other, more pertinent tasks.
The other type of report, and the type that we create most often, is the SQL based custom report. These reports access the Lytec database directly and are not run from within the Lytec application. These reports are delivered in the form of an executable (exe) file. These reports typically produce a comma separated values (csv) file. The output file can be open with a text editor, but most commonly, Excel is used to view and print the report file.
The SQL reports are completely customizable to meet each practice's needs. They can allow users to specify ranges that will let them achieve the desired results. These ranges can include anything that the practice may need to use to get the output needed, such as providers, locations, referring physicians, dates of service, insurance companies, chart numbers, appointment dates, etc., etc. They can include sub totals and totals and much, much more.
The SQL reports can be configured to run only on one specific database on one specific server, on any database (user specified) on one specific server (typical for billing services) or any other configuration needed.
Another kind of report that can be created is an fillable PDF form. These forms are created using Adobe Acrobat and have a set background form with fields that can be filled in and then saved. These can be very useful for offices that have specialty specific forms that need to be maintained for their patients.
